June in Florence means fashion; Pitti Uomo and Pitti Bimbo

The “Lucky Numbers edition of Pitti Immagine takes the stage in the Tuscan capital.

June’s calendar of events in Florence is enriched by the 90th edition of Pitti Uomo, from the 14th to the 17th June 2016 and 83rd edition of Pitti Bimbo from the 23rd to the 25th June. The most important international encounters for the presentation of menswear and men’s accessory collections, for the launch of new projects concerning men’s fashions and for the launch of new childrenswear trends.

The majestic backdrop for the event is provided by the Fortezza da Basso, the 1500s’ fortress at the vibrant heart of the city (it’s also the venue of the Florence Artisan Craft Fair). Within its bastions the beautifully restored historic areas and modern pavilions are juxtaposed in a fusion of tradition and forward-thinking, outstanding concepts that also distinguish the story of Italian Fashion.

The leitmotiv of this year’s event is the theme, expressed graphically as P1TT1 LUCKY NUMB3R5. Its focus is on numbers their esthetics, graphics and symbolism in fashion and in other fields.

It is not their quantitative value, however, but the qualities they express that are under scrutiny: the beauty of their lines and the central role they play in everyday life and language. In fact, numbers will be a dominant feature in the theatrical decorations at Fortezza da Basso as well as in the overall graphic effect of the event designed by architect Olivier Baldini.

Numbers, it would seem, have been really been lucky for Pitti Immagine: the last editions of Pitti Uomo and Pitti Bimbo respectively benefited from a 4% and 3% increase in the number of buyers present at the exhibition.
