Conegliano Valdobbiadene is nominated to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site

There is a location that is unique in Italy and the world.

The land shelters its villages and palazzos like precious pearls and its softly rippling hills extend as far as the eye can see.

It’s a place where the delicate horizon bleeds into shades of green and yellow, creating splendid watercolor landscapes.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene is the vibrant heart of the Prosecco DOCG, the territory is set on the slopes of the Prealps where the air teems withculture and work, tradition and art, the history and the love for the land and for its products.

It is a special territory, and – for this – nominated by the Italian National Commission for UNESCO to be entered onto the List of World Heritage Sites.

This nomination represents an important step.

“It’s a recognition that we greet with pride – comments Innocente Nardi, Consortium President for the Protection of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG – because it corresponds to the effort that every inhabitant of Conegliano Valdobbiadene contributes daily to this land, making it unique”.

The process of nomination for Conegliano Valdobbiadene as a UNESCO Site started in 2008. Two years later – in 2010 – this extraordinary territory achieved its first goal, entry onto the Italian Tentative List.

The definitive decision regarding the admission of Conegliano Valdobbiadene onto the list of UNESCO Sites will be delivered by August 2018, when, at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the international verdict will be announced.
