All facets of the design industry go on show in Berlin.
From the 2nd to the 5th June 2016, The German capital plays host to the 14th edition of the DMY International Design Festival, the yearly rendezvous for design professionals from all over the world with businesses and universities.
The venue for the festival is the fascinating Kraftwerk Berlin building: East Berlin’s former power plant, designed in 1961 and abandoned in 1997. Skillful redevelopment into an 8,000 sq. m. exhibition space was carried in the first decade of the millennium. Today, it is one of the places to be seen at in the city and is the venue for the most innovative and cutting-edge events and exhibitions that light up Berlin’s calendar.
Expectations are high for this year’s new innovation, DMY is inviting talent (aspiring and established) from all the creative industries: product and industrial design, fashion, graphics, communication and digital design.
The aim is to transform the event into a melting-pot; a chance for the different sectors to share and blend ideas. The scope is to redesign, for everybody, more sustainable and far-sighted lifestyles.
The motto of the 14th edition is “Odyssey 2016”: a journey into the unconfined world of design, to discover new products, new prototypes and innovative materials. It is a new awakening for Berlin, a chance to demonstrate its potential as a UNESCO Creative City for Design.
